Not exactly an answer to your question, but in the same spirit, is Kelly's criterion: If you face a series of bets, with probability p (larger than 1/2) of winning and probability q = 1-p of losing, then the optimal fraction of your capital to put at stake at each bet is equal to f = p - q.
