Backgammon board

One of my friends has a tournament size, cork, backgammon board which has gotten warped. The board has buckled a tad, and, is slightly like a hilly golf course. I recommended that he put some heavy weights on it ( simplest solution to try). I , however, have my serious doubts about this remedy. What else can he do to fix his board?. Thanks, Seth
