I really like this post. Especially the observation that there are three different landscapes in backgammon and that the culture of online play is different than the culture of face-to-face tournaments.

Personally, I don't like under-resigning because it adds an element (misclicking) that I prefer the game not have. But I wouldn't call it cheating. I'd be more inclined to say it was "impolite."

I can see why some people believe "it's not cheating if the interface allows it." That's a perfectly reasonable view, and maybe better than my view.
