Preparing for the shot?

Wow, tricky.

1. We could play safe with 7/2 5/1. The downside is that it wastes pips in a close race and we'll probably have to concede something next turn anyway. White can avoid giving us a direct shot this turn because of her spare on her midpoint.

2. We can try to break contact as soon as possible with 18/13 18/14. Optically this gives White a double shot but I think White will hit only if she can also cover one of her blots. The trouble is that we're still behind in the race and we've diversified White's good hitting and good racing rolls.

3. We can play 18/13 5/1 or 18/9 trying to maintain contact but also trying to keep our racing vig, relying on our superior board for protection. Of the two plays I like 18/9 better because it doesn't waste pips, which I think is more important than closing our board. The trouble is that again, White doesn't have to leave a shot right away. I think she'll hit with 66 63 62 61. If she plays safe, do we really want to hang around waiting for a shot? It will probably depend on whether White's position improves.

Difficult decision but I'll go with 18/9.
