Yes, I think this is the play. If it works, White gets stuck with a bunch of checkers on the 3 pt and if it doesn't work, a prime can often be remade and if somehow some tactical disaster is about to occur, more checkers can usually be hit. Of course when hit back you may be able to decide whether or not to hit more checkers and White will almost always crash more.
