used.addall.com (super search engine) can find Vol. 1 for a bit over $50. You may still want to wait for a better price but at least that isn't a mega-gouge. NOTE: be careful about buying the 1st edition (from 1984 -- non-Orwellian :) which was a single volume and not as extensive, unless you really want it specifically.
