If I have any understanding of this position at all, then moving the ace point blot back to the 6 should shift in *favor* of making the 2 point. 90 points of timing is acceptable for a 1-2 backgame, but it's hardly ideal, and timing will be a huge concern for white.

In this variant (and also if you move that checker back even further), I think I make the 2 point, but I'm not all that sure it's right. In the original, I go for the smooth prime.

Perhaps QF should lead me to agree with you in the original as well, but I just can't see it.
