Higher entry fees for the open division? Doesn't this just create sand-baggers out of those who can't afford/ don't want to risk losing it.

Clocks for the open division? It's just a different game than the one I want to play; feels more like chess.

I played a tournament once. I went for the too expensive open division with mandatory clocks, cashed by reaching the semi-final, never had the slightest time trouble, and never had the slightest desire to enter such a tournament again.
