To be honest, if you are an experienced player like him and played lot of matches online you should have lot of recorded matches in your PC. You should have ideas of your tendency of the mistakes.So why don't you study them categorized by certain theme rather than playing next match.

The problem is backgammon is too fun.You don't want to stop it for studying it.(me too)
However at one point you should cut down playing time and spend more on studying, otherwise you suffer from same mistake.
Nack Ballard says odds of studying time : playing time should be 9:1.I can't be like that but I understand his point of view.

As for studying material you can use:
eXtreme Gammon
Books
Backgammon Article on Galore,Gammon village,Gammonu etc
Chouette (or any kind of discussion)
This forum
live and online lecture
etc - isn't it enough?
