6-away 9-away re-cube calculation

(1) Is it possible to calculate this re-cube action over-the-board in a reasonable amount of time? Do excellent players commit positions like this one to memory to avoid over-the-board calculations?
(2) For Blue to properly calculate whether to re-double, must he determine his MWC if White takes AND re-cubes to 8 (if Blue does not roll an initial doublet), and compare that MWC to his MWC if White drops? Can excellent players do that calculation in their heads?
(3) Should Blue adjust his re-cube decision based on whether White is a better or worse player than Blue, and, if so, how?
(4) I won't be posting a rollout. I'm primarily interested in how excellent players approach these types of situations. My pencil-and-paper calculations (which may or may not be accurate) show this as a close decision on both the double and the take.
