My guess is that, in an average tournament, 1/3 of open level players are under 5 PR, 1/2 are between 5 and 7.5 PR, and the remainder are over 7.5 PR.

Here's an experiment to try: Play 100 11-point matches against XG or GNU, and have them cranked up to a very high caliber of play. Add 10% to the percentage of matches that you win. For example, if you win 32% and add 10%, the result is 42%. My rule-of-thumb is that the resulting percentage is the approximate percentage of matches that the player will win, over time, at the open level. (In any event, once you see that you can win 20% or 30% or 40% against an opponent who plays with a 0.0 PR, you'll realize that you can win an even higher percentage against a random selection of open level players.)
