Cocked Dice: a Compromise?

Colin asks if Jason means that we shouldn't be able to stop the clock if a die goes on the floor, or if a drink is spilled on the board, or if we question an opponents action?
I don't see that Jason means that at all. US Backgammon clock rules provide that the clock can be stopped "to retrieve fallen dice" (presumably dice that have fallen to the floor), and also "to contest an opponent's action." And, if anything, such as a spilled drink that must be cleaned up, makes play impossible, it makes no sense that clocks continue running while play is not possible.
I think all he meant was that when a baffle box is used, the dice rarely end up on the floor, and are less frequently cocked, and poor shakes are no longer a problem.
