13/9 13/5 8/4 or 18/14(2) 13/5? The first play gives us a third builder for the 2 point (for a faster closeout -- 8 numbers point instead of 4) and keeps contact (giving Opponent awkward entering numbers that blot or crash). But we don't need to freeze our Opponent, or shake a second blot loose, so that seems to be the gammon play, and we don't need a gammon at the score. The second play gives 4/36 immediate returns but all but ensures that we clear the Opponent's outfield quickly and safely, with no worries about rolling numbers, possibly for several turns, such as 51 42 14 32 31 21, which would not play well from the 18 point, or numbers like 65 64 63 62 61 54 53 52 43, which if used to play one checker from the 18 point, would leave 5/36 returns instead of 4/36, if Opponent is still on the bar.

18/14(2) 13/5, at this score.
