My guess is that you mean white was leading 3a 5a. I am checking rec.games.backgammon and everything within all the board diagrams there seems out of place. The problem is that big that I cannot understand what position each diagram depicts. I remember having the same problem in the past. Maybe it is a known IPad issue? I do not have a proper pc here to check.
