Position ID: sGfwBwDGTvADIA Match ID: cIkOAAAAAAAA

I see these three candidates:
  • P (Point) = 8/3, 6/3
  • R (Run) = 24/16
  • S (Split) = Z (Reverse split) = 24/21, 13/8
The key to choosing between them is to recognize White’s pressing need to unstack his midpoint on the next turn.

R, the Pottle, runs right into the area White wants to occupy. This is not the right time to give him a target there. Similarly, P, which hangs back on the 24pt, gives White a free chance to bring down wood.

S is the play that challenges White. It targets the very outfield where White wants to park his blots. White will find it difficult to play safe. He may feel forced to attack at a time when he is outboarded. In the scuffle, Blue may trade hits, and thereby send back one the White checkers that has temporarily escaped. In case he is left unmolested, Blue may escape himself on the next turn.

Retro sequence: It looks likes 31P and 65R may transpose in the sequence above, so there are probably several well-played sequences leading to this position.
