Yes indeed. In the Egyptian manual to the Hittite game, the following advice is provided:
1. Before and after shaking hands with a Hittite Opponent (or Elamite) be sure to count ones fingers. (Note: This may be an oblique reference to a rudimentary form of pipcounting).
2. Should a Hittite Opponent (or Elamite) offer the wager of the trebling/quintupling block (ie, equivalent to doubling cube) it is prudent to carefully turn the block over with a stick first before accepting. (Note: This appears to be the earliest known reference to risk-reward analysis).
