White should double as winning chances are better than 15%

You don't have an automatic double if you are within the doubling window. You prefer to double when your winning chances are as close as possible to the upper range of the doubling window. This is when you get the most efficiency from your cube.

What makes this position a double is huge volatility. You are very likely to overshoot the doubling window after the roll, so you must double now.

For that same reason, long races have very small efficient double windows due to low volatility of the position. You don't double in a (non-short) race if you are 51% favorite, right?
