I am not sure, how accurate the account given by this guy is, since on other occasions he reports that women had the same "price" as slaves and children(?!) in the Sasanid era, whereas, as far as I know, there have never ever been any slaves in the Iranian history. There is for example ample proof, in the form of, so to say, "accounting documents" on clay tablets, that the construction workers in Persepolis were paid. Anyways, what he claims might be partly true:
