lack of a superior alternative. running puts white under to hit the runner and 1s and 3s play pretty well already. white'a lack of board points indicate aggression, but blue lacks ammo to continue any attack - if white hits it make cost him his mid point, leaving the back checkers to fend for themselves. if you don't play 24/15, what are you to do? 13/4 is safe, but does nothing with your back checkers (which should start to feel uncomfortable with the bar point made). playing 24/21 leaves 13/7 with the 6.
