In any cube decision, first evaluate the race. Then you will know whether the race can compensate for positional disadvantages & threats or not. Here the race is reasonable, you trail a little in pipcounts and a bit more given the messy board, but surely if you hold the cube the race is a significant source of equity.
That allows you to overcome the disadvantage of 4 checkers back that are semi-primed, and the fact that any checker you run around may get hit, losing ground in the race. Then if you lose ground in the race, your holding equity increases.
I think this is a recube and a take.
