In Response To: An optimal degree of uncertainty? (stw672)

I do believe that there is a sweet spot of uncertainty in sports. However, I believe that it is more important for people to see how a team or player applies his/her skill to overcome the difficulties and achieve something great. Difficulties many times come from uncertain factors.

If people do not understand how the difficulties and the uncertainty evolve during a sporting event and how the contestants overcome them, then uncertainty on its own would hardly make a sport popular. For backgammon, I have nothing more to propose than what others already did in another post: "expert commentary". Explain live what kind of control the player has over his opponent and over the randomness/uncertainty of the game. Explain how a skilled move that was just made gives him/her an extra edge over the opponent.
