Headphones while playing in live BG tournaments

My perspective: Technically, listening to music IS an aid. If you think about it, then everyone else in the room has to put up with the ambient noise associated with a room full of BG players. By putting on headphones, the noise is being replaced with something that you prefer to hear over the general noise. This can only be advantageous, otherwise theres no reason to do it.

However, I dont mind if my opponent chooses to wear headphones. I tried it myself a few times, and found that the type of music I was listening to would influence my playing style. I also lost some matches like that, and being mildly superstitious, I no longer use headphones. So, it tends to even itself out in my mind. If anything, then its a little antisocial, but then again, if I am trying to play some good backgammon, then as few distractions as I can manage, the better.
