For money 13/5 and 13/8 13/10 both give cashes when missed so the extra risk of immediately being hit after 13/8 13/10 is not compensated for. But at score gammon wins do not help making it harder to cash. The play with more immediate risk does indeed pay off when missed giving a very efficient cube but 13/5 would not even be a cube.
