First, it's done with chess from 1-8 so there isn't much more to it.

Second, Nactation requires knowing about 50 symbols, so mapping 12 shouldn't be that hard.

Third, it maintains some of the elegance of Nactation.

Fourth, you would need to punctuate between dice rather than not. IE 2434 (2 up) is tough as is 244221 (24/20, 22/21)is tough. a34 and a4c2 are easier.

So, yes, I'd say so.
