I sent a response in email, but I'll post it here:

Internet Explorer 8 is the final version that works with XP. So there is no way to update it. Microsoft actually suggests that you consider Chrome browser or Firefox. I use Chrome.

Alternatively Firefox can be found here: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

Both are no cost. Both browsers are better than Internet Explorer IMHO.
