I cannot speak to the crashes or problems, but the specs, yes.

i7 (or i5) is good - get the current generation, and if its a laptop, then I would recommend at least 8gb RAM - that will be plenty for XG, and for you to not have a slow pc too, if its a desktop, I would have 16gb at least.

For the mainstream manufacturers (dell, acer, etc.), my experience has been that Dell are good, HP much less so, Sony's are pricey for repairs and parts, others I know less about, but ultimately, you almost always "get what you pay for". Also, when planning it out, remember that a computer should give you around 2 very good years, 1 good year and maybe 2 cursing years of life. So, pay accordingly. Personally, I like to replace mine every 3 years, but having said that, I use desktops at home, and tablets on the fly, so maybe my experience is skewed.
