The Calcutta - make better use of that information?

Simple KO tournaments are rather poor ways of picking the strongest player, apparently, unless your seeding is good.

If people make informed bets, why shouldn't you use the amount of money bet on each player as an indicators of his or her strength and use that information for seeding the players?

Eg, if there are two outstanding players and the Calcutta bidders know this, these players will never meet before the finals - that's a good thing, not?
