I think cashes, yes. Perhaps, though, for doubles events with fields of 32 it might pay and give points in the 4211 manner.
Lifetime points might be Onyx points or something.
Main points (the only points now and the ones to remain most important, probably) might be Gold points.
Jackpot events - Platinum points. Pro jackpot points being more valuable than Am ones.
Senior points... Silver
Doubles... Blue or whatever
Blitz and quickies... Green... Maybe events for Pros and other for Ams at larger tournaments tht can support multiple side events. With points being greater in the Pro events.
Points one will all add into Onyx (lifetime) points. Ratings will be only on main and jackpot events, but status, journeyman, junior master, master, senior master, grandmaster, etc can be doled out based on lifetime master points.
Main event points will add 1:1. Jackpot events will add as main event points (half for limited jackpots - as intermediate main events do now). ProAm doubles should be a 1:1 ratio, too - it will drive demand for the event and the Pro and get a better mix between different levels of players. Seniors, under-50/55 events (why not?), 5 point blitz mains, and 1/2/3 point quickies mains - perhaps as 1/3 - 1/4 of main event points. Pre and post tournament events perhaps 1/8 the number of points.
This will likely cause more active participation during each tournament by many many players. What tournament director wouldn't want people lining up to enter side event after side event? And as players chase master/lifetime points they'll have to pick an choose and make interesting decisions about varying degrees of participation.
