24/18*/16.

Both 24/18*/16 and 24/22/16 leave 17 returns, if I counted right. The hit has the advantage of removing the slot for the 7, meaning that XG's hits will lose power, and if the return hit is on the 2, the hitting checker will be hemmed in. Hitting trades off another checker back for more timing, which is a wash. Hitting has the drawback of leaving two blots for XG to hit.

It looks like about a wash in terms of winning chances (not sure what my DMP play would be), but hitting should win us more net gammons, so hitting should be clear in the match, with gammons counting.
