I recently transcribed a lot of matches from Carolina. I found it easiest on an iPad running NJ. The choice of app is probably entirely personal. I have XG as well but preferred where NJ displayed the dice for me to choose - in the middle of the screen and not on the left side as in XG. The only problem I encountered with NJ was entering an illegal move. I couldn't do it on NJ so had to send the file to XG and then complete that particular game. An Android tablet would work just as well. I have one for the training apps from Japan and the Mindgamescenter app. However I found NJ doesn't render so well on my Android tablet. There seems to be some greater variety in the screen resolutions of Android tablets compared to the more standardized iPads.
