Keep the Giants in the game

In Response To: falafel dont retire fom tournament bg (ed olaughlin)

There has been a disagreement on the subject of what is more important - keeping the Giants in the game or keeping Joe Average in the game. I am going to follow Ed's list of great players lost by repeating my refrain; backgammon doesn't treat its stars well. They are voting with their feet. It isn't worth it for them. I hope we can do better in the future.
