7/1* 6/2 gives me any six to cover (17) plus 11 21 31 & 41 for a total of 24 covers vs blacks 11 hits.

7/1* 7/3 gives me any 2 or 5 to hit (20) plus 11 & 41 for a total of 23.

Is that extra cover worth risking the 61 fly shot? I don't think so.

This doesn't look right. First of all, 61 beats you anyway, so you hardly gain anything after it, since you lose no matter what you roll in that case even after lifting.

You probably aren't going to cover with 64 or 62 if you play 6/2 or 54 if you play 7/3. 22 breaks no matter what you do. But you can cover with 55 if you play 6/2. So you have 20 covers either way.

6/2 puts your checkers in awkward spots and a far more common variation is that he rolls any ace other than 61 and now you have another blot to deal with. For ex he rolls an ace, you fan, his position is much, much stronger than if you don't have a blot.
