A Powerful Way To Protest

My question is whether a winning Calcutta owner has a similar ethical obligation with respect to the owners of the loser. If the tournament winnings are considered legal but ill-gotten, then are the Calcutta winnings also ill-gotten?

I see the distinction.

My opinion is no.

In my preceding post, I argued that backers have purchased a result and have no role to play in determining how that result is obtained. That being the case, it is hard for me to charge them with any duty other than accepting the outcome they have purchased.

That said, it would make quite a statement if a Calcutta owner protested by transferring his interest to the backer of a losing player.
