GNU transcription is perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned. Possibly it handles illegal plays better than XG in producing a generally readable mat file. XG analysis may be a better than GNUs but in 90% of cases with the files I download here, I wipe the analysis and start over with a higher level on XG anyway. So a GNU generated mat file is just as good.
