Maybe he's just that good.

I doubt that if Stick or Neil et al were always matching the XG play there would be a question. This board is filled with extremely strong players. Its probably the single largest collection of backgammon might anywhere. I dont know that, its just speculation. But, give Stick a chance, he'll tell you.

Personally, just looking at the pipcount indicates to me its not so clear cut, and the old maxim 'when ahead in the race, race' does occasionally apply.

For the sake of argument, I too will hit on the ace (10/1*).
