Does the box have an advantage?

People want the box for the very reason most people play backgammon for money. It allows them to maximize their gambling. They can "win" a lot in the box.
The reality is that if you are above average in your chou, being in and keeping the box is advantageous, often, even if it means taking a majority of cubes that are, let's say, .06 drops.
To make up for the subpar decisions made to keep the box, once often needs to be substantially above average to be better off in the box.
So, the majority of players are better off not being in the box. We have a weak player who goes through all sorts of weird routines to get out of being in the box as often as he can - he is smart.
