"Oh... I know I could figure out the take point on my own, so why go through the trouble... since I can do it on my own, it's not like I'm cheating... It's just to save time..."

I know for a fact that certain Russian players consider it normal to use MET and other reference materials during online play. It was mentioned on one of their forums. By the players themselves. I don't remember who the players were, I probably don't even know who they are, but some of them do that. I can only imagine how many players who do just that don't speak up.
