I was happy to see many of my opponents wasting time on plays that had very little chance of making much difference in LA. As a result I was gifted with as much as 5 minutes of time cushion... and I was enjoying that very much. Later in the match when score and tension rose, I had the luxury to think. Earlier I just picked a play and it didn't cost me too much in PR, I don't think.

Of course it is an over generalization to say play defense first, but that is just a tendency that I noted from XG. There are no hard and fast rules that can replace experience and thinking at OTB. But you are 100% correct that you should practice first and get it down BEFORE you go.

I know it helped me to find the yellow brick road this time!
