Problems with video stream from Californina State Championship

Are we sure that autofocus is "required" for live events? I'm not quite sure why Youtube would have such a clause. I don't know myself, but it doesn't sound right. Maybe this is some software option that someone didn't understand correctly?

I don't actually know the answer since I haven't produced a Youtube live event (or used the software that comes wit it).

Just my uninformed view and opinion.
