Cool thing would be to update as much info in the match information record within the .xg file ... putting everything in the filename is a somewhat poor solution....

Agreed. But for my own use this is how I made my Windows filenames for matches:

YYYY-[MM]-[DD]-Tourneyname-[R#/QF/SF/F/]-ML-FirstLastA-FirstLastB

[ ] = optional
