Why not run all the way

I'm making a New Years resolution to keep track of my PR and to review all of my online matches on XG. This is the first position I've ever posted. I'm just a little surprised you wouldn't run the back checker all the way to the midpoint. The only logic I can see is that I'm down in the race and he has two blots, which would be hard to cover if I get hit...and if I don't get hit, the checker on the 14 point gives some flexibility in making another point. Putting a builder on the 5 point doesn't appear to be very important in this position.
