Why does this sound so personal?

Yes, isn't it wonderful, that unlike other sports Backgammon recognizes and rewards people for other than just raw performance?

It's a no-brainer to take w/l records and recorded PR and say A is better than B, but it's also fun to have the Giants voting that is something else entirely...who you respect as a player; who you think is the toughest over the board; and whatever the hell other intangibles each person thinks is worthy of rewarding.

Isn't it refreshing that we have both? Just because someone is ranked X on the Giant sheet doesn't mean he's X in the W/L column or PR column.

Everyone has known this for years and is comfortable with it and is having fun with it. It's not that we're voting for who will live and who will die. This isn't the Hunger Games. It's a game. It's for fun.

Chill out and enjoy it, and if you can't, at least let others enjoy it for what it is.

Rod, are you already pissed off that when the Giant results come out next month you will be much lower than you believe you deserve? Do you have to berate it in advance? Why not just accept the fact that it's also a popularity contest and some people don't have a chance in that area?
