Please forgive the thread name change, but I don't think people will realize what your question is about from the original title.

This is a very large general subject, but let's look at just one aspect: when you are in the Box and are handed a large, disorderly pile of 8-cubes, or maybe even higher ones.

If you are letting a few close calls go, that's not a big hit, but if the cube is high and you are conceding over a point to each of the players you drop in the name of "money management", it's going to take a lot of good playing to make up that loss. Will these same players "manage money" the same way you do, or will they say "Take all" and deal with the swings?

It's not hard at all to find situations where people pass cubes from the Box that throw away that much equity. Or if they do take, they might concede equity later by waiting to make it 16 until they have a lead pipe lock, bleeding copious equity and PR with a long string of missed redoubles.
