I think QF is two different things:

1) It's where you select a solution that you not normally would have, because you conclude that the "obvious" play would not have been included in the quiz, had it been correct.

AND/OR

2) Simply the fact that you as a participant is more alert, when shown a position as part of a quiz (or debate). You don't go "automatic" in a quiz - you don't make the errors that you may do once in a while in a match, because you forgot to look at the position for more than 2 seconds. This focus alone (being quizzed) will make you sharper and make you check more than once.
