Ken’s rating proposal - the problem with rebuys

Rebuys are great for the contestants and the TD. They add more money to the pot.
However, I need to account for them in my ranking system, because my system is based on average ABT points per entry. If player Joe never rebuys and wins 10 points over 10 events, his average is 1.00. If player Jill always loses in round 1 and rebuys and wins 10 points over 10 events, her average is also 1.00 .. without adjustment for rebuys. It's pretty obvious to me that an adjustment for rebuys is needed, otherwise Joe and Jill are perceived to be equals. It may be wrong to count each rebuy as a full new entry ... because of the consolation bracket issue a few of you brought up ... but some adjustment should be made. This is solely to improve the accuracy of the ranking.
Regarding byes: Byes are random, so they'll be spread over the field randomly over many events. Rebuys are not. They skew ratings data in a non-random fashion. That's why I need to adjust for them.
