This is something I like. I have toyed with the idea of an "OLM cube", based on how Kit's OLM works (in principle, you can look at your roll assuming ND, and if you double you get to re-roll - of course you are not supposed to peek): if you have cube access, you can roll, and then you can decide to keep the roll, or to double and re-roll. Very similar to yours, and interesting variations.
