In Response To: The British Backgammon Awards 2014 (Keene)

1) I regret that I have not been to any love-ins since my university days. I remember them being rather enjoyable though.

2) Many of the categories are most amenable to democratic methodologies rather than 'objective' empirical ones. The category of 'most feared' player, for example, is best found by asking people who they most fear.

3) If democracy is good enough to appoint the leaders of the free world it is probably good enough to work out who the 'Player of the Year' is.

4) Only the unpopular object to popularity contests :-)

5) Make a nomination and vote - it is good for backgammon.
