Is that standard? What kinds of complications does this bring?

Yeah, I have mentioned this before.

The good thing of course is that you get more time to get things right.

But the bad thing is that it potentially allows a cheater room to see the roll and then decide whether he's going to "notice" the illegal play. And maybe even an honest player will be suspected of foul play if he notices an illegal play after rolling a poor number.

The WBA rule (Nordic Open rule) is that you can only correct the play before the dice have been rolled. I like this rule better.
