DUPLICATE BACKGAMMON RESULTS. At the Texas Championships, USBGF Teaching Pro, Phil Simborg, conducted a competition. Several of the top players in the world, along with an impressive audience, looked at 10 difficult checker plays.

There were three choices. 4 top players simultaneously indicated their play by holding up a red, white or blue checker. Mochy, MCG, Petko and Koka competed, and Mochy won with a high score of 36 (a perfect score is 50, as the best play for each move is 5 points and there are lesser points for second and third best).

MCG came in second with 34.

Phil had announced, in advance, that he didn't believe anyone in the audience could beat Mochy or MCG in this contest, and he was almost right as Akiko Yazawa beat them both with a higher score of 37!!!!!!!

There was only one of the 10 questions that all 5 (and Akiko) got right, and there were great differences on most of the rest of the plays. USBGF members will be able to see all 10 plays in an upcoming Prime Time Magazine. After the competition, the audience was treated to explanations of the plays by the contestants and Phil.
