Microsoft Security Essentials

I am with Michael. I used to recommend MS essential when it got release. At the time it was ranking very well and is probably was (and still is) the least impact AV on the system.

However, in the past years, it slowly declined and it is now very poor at detecting newer viruses. it is to a point that av-test.org is using that it as baseline.

MS has changed recently their marketing about essential, not presenting as a full AV system, but just a basic one, recommending user to get a real AV.

Many free options exist, personally i always like AVG.
